Do you need support?

We provide support to both adults and children bereaved by suicide in the Tees Valley.

The Headlight Project provides Counselling and Therapeutic support to people bereaved by suicide in the Tees Valley area. If you wish to refer yourself or another person, please click on the relevant button below. A member of our team will be in touch within 7 days from your date of referral.

Please note – The Headlight Project is not a general well-being counselling service nor a crisis service. We are primarily focused on providing support for families and individuals who have been bereaved by suicide. We provide one to one counselling and various trauma and behaviour therapies for both adults and children.

We suggest you contact your GP for general counselling provision. For crisis support, please get in touch with Samaritans or CAHMS for children.

Support Resources

This great support guide have been developed by people who have the lived experience of losing someone to suicide to help others affected in the same way.

Finding the Words

Finding the words will make you feel more comfortable about reaching out to someone bereaved by suicide. Few people like to talk about grief and loss, and many of us feel awkward around someone who has been bereaved by suicide, even if they are a good friend or close colleague. We worry about saying the wrong thing and can put off contacting them, and before long it may seem too late to say anything at all. This guide will give you the confidence to support them now.
